The 2017 Presidential Inauguration gives your band, choir or orchestra the chance to perform during a historic event. In addition to exploring the must-see sights of our nation’s capital, this Washington, D.C. performance tour gives students the chance to partake in inaugural events such as the Swearing in Ceremony and the 2017 Inauguration Festival & Competition. Visit Ford’s Theatre (or Other Activity of Your Choice)

Explore the theater where stage actor John Wilkes Booth put on the act that would land him in history books: the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. (Pending Confirmation)

Experience the Inaugural Gala Awards Ceremony and Dinner

Student’s put on their finest attire as they enjoy dinner and dancing during an award’s ceremony at the elegant Foxchase manor.

Experience the Swearing in Ceremony

On the steps of the U.S. Capitol, the President of the United States will take his/her official oath into office. Immediately following this ceremony, the President will outline his/her four-year vision during an election speech.

Enjoy a Boxed Lunch

Watch the Historic Inaugural Parade

Be part of a tradition that began when Thomas Jefferson paraded down Pennsylvania Avenue following his inauguration in 1805. Qualified bands can march in this historic parades, while others can watch the president, vice president and their spouses lead the procession.

Enjoy Breakfast

Visit the Arlington National Cemetery

Filled with the casualties and deceased veterans of American conflicts spanning back to the Civil War, explore the Women in Military Services for America Memorial, John F. Kennedy’s “eternal flame” and the Tomb of the Unknowns.

Tour the Capitol Building

Enjoy a real-life history lesson at the home of the United States Congress, a neoclassical building where laws are made, foreign policies are formed and expenditures are decided upon.

Enjoy Lunch

Explore the Smithsonian Buildings

A nucleus of 19 diverse museums located in the National Mall includes the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of Air and Space and the American Art Museum.
