During the 24 years in which Abraham Lincoln lived in this quaint state capital, he established his career as a lawyer and a statesman, and, in his own words, “passed from a young to an old man.” Travel back to the mid-19th century with sites such as Lincoln’s Greek revival home, the Old State Capital, the Presidential Museum and Lincoln’s Tomb. Springfield’s lessons for student travelers go beyond Abe: the town rests on the historic Route 66 and boasts a prairie-style Frank Lloyd Wright House.
