Following the Super Bowl XLVI, many students may be curious to learn more about Indianapolis, Indiana, where the New York Giants bested the New England Patriots. Fortunately, there are plenty of fascinating educational travel destinations for school groups to visit in this state capital.
In downtown Indianapolis, students will find the Indiana Historical Society – a great place to learn about the people and events that have shaped the state.
However, the Indiana Historical Society, which is located inside of the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, takes the traditional museum experience to a whole new level. In the You Are There exhibit, students can take part in a true 3D experience, as historic photographs come to life. Here, school tours can watch as Robert F. Kennedy announces the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., or learn about the Prohibition Era.
In the building’s Cole Porter Room, students can learn about Indiana’s famous composer and songwriter as they listen to a few of his tunes in a space designed to reflect a room at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. Meanwhile, Destination Indiana allows pupils to travel back in time using touch screens and interactive displays.
