Amazon River

Travel along the largest river in the world. With over one-third of the world’s species calling the Amazon River basin home, your student group is sure to have a once-in-a-lifetime science trip.

Lima

A city rich in culture, art, and science, Lima is a destination that your student group will never forget. Home to beautiful beaches and rich architectural sites, this city offers many treasures to see.

Iquitos

Iquitos lies in the heart of the Peruvian Rainforest. Only accessible by boat or plane, this unique destination can provide your group a rare glimpse into tropical life.

Amazon Rainforest

Your student group can explore the home of some the world’s most unique species. The Amazon Rainforest is a scientific mecca waiting to be discovered.

Napo River / Canopy Walkway

Explore the Napo River, a tributary of the Amazon River that is nestled among volcanoes. Also explore the 115 foot-high Canopy Walkway through some of the most beautiful places within the Amazon Rainforest.

Ceiba Tops / Dolphin Search

Enjoy a tour down the Amazon River towards Cieba Tops Lodges. As you travel, look for pink and brown river dolphins along the journey.

 

Day 1 ~ United States * Lima

Fly to Lima, Peru

 

Day 2 ~ Lima

Get acquainted with Lima, Peru's Capital City, and its 2000 years of history and Colonial heritage and tour Lima’s Historical Center

Visit the Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology, showing the development of every major culture and civilization of Peru from the first hunter-gatherers to modern times

 

Day 3 ~ Lima * Cuzco

Fly to Cuzco and travel on to the Urumbamba Valley, the Sacred Valley of the Incas

Visit Aeanakancha, where South American camelids (llamas) are bred, and learn about these animals and the ancient weaving techniques still used today

Continue on to Pisac for an opportunity to bargain with vendors in the outdoor market

 

Day 4 ~ Cuzco

Drive through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Willoc and interact with locals, learn about the legacy of historical and cultural wealth of the community and maybe you learn a few words in the Quechua language

Continue to the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo, where Manco Inca and his armies retreated after the Spanish regained control of Cuzco

 

Day 5 ~ Cuzco * Machu Picchu

From Ollanta station, board the train to Aguas Calientes, where you will take a ride to Machu Picchu, "The Lost City of the Incas”, considered both a masterpiece of architecture and engineering

Visit the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial and the Burial Grounds

Stroll around the archaeological site and then visit the private art gallery: "Machu Pictures - Inspiring Views of the Sanctuary" to enhance the day’s experience

 

Day 6 ~ Cuzco

Tour Cuzco, viewing the city’s most interesting sites, including Santo Domingo convent monastery, previously one of the most important temples devoted to the worship of the sun

Drive out to the countryside outside and visit some of the remarkable Inca ruins, including the cult center of Sacsayhuaman, the temple and amphitheatre of Kenko, and Puca Pucara (the Red Fortress)

Visit the Children’s Village of Munaychay

Dinner at La Retama restaurant and folklore show

 

Day 7 ~ Cuzco * Lima * United States

Fly back to Lima and take in the sites in the Miraflores District

Visit a Peruvian outdoor market
