For eight years I have led a seventh grade group from our northwest suburban junior high school on a trip to Springfield and St. Louis. We accomplish this trip in just two short days. Some of the unforgettable sites we are able to visit include both, the old and new, state capitols, the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, and the Gateway Arch. Our students have the opportunity to learn about one of our nation’s greatest presidents and understand his impact on our country’s history. In addition, visiting the capitols allows students to see where we have come from and where we are going as a state. Finally, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis offers spectacular views, and it also displays the history that inspired its design and construction. All these sites are very accessible to schools and well worth the time for the enrichment it will bring to their students.

Leading a large group of seventh grade students on a two day trip is a rewarding but stressful experience.
